ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Harvey Shymanski and Mark Jeffe are planning a CPR course. The consensus of the members at the meeting was to go for the 3 hour course, not the 1 hour.

Last day of work at the Snack Shack is this Saturday, 8/16 at 9:00 AM.

A day with Mark Kelso $10 per ticket or 3 for $25

Singing at a campfire tonight at 2282 Lapham Rd. Bring a blanket and your voice!

The chowder cup yesterday was a great event.

CLUBS/COMMITTEE REPORTS:

AKTION CLUB

– If you purchase a ticket for $5, and your name is drawn, you can win a large pizza and 15 wings every month for the year from Del Aureos.

– The Governor’s Basket and Treats for Troops was once again donated by Aktion Club and Kiwanis for the convention. Debbie and Seth will be attending.

–  Baseball has started. Six teams participating. Start time on Wednesdays is 6:15 p.m. Come out and join us. Opening night had 60 players and 3 games. Everyone had a great time, including the coaches who “received communion” at “St. Wallenweins” following the games.

–  Next meeting is September 9, 2014.

GUEST SPEAKER:

The Character Council started in 1999 in Hamburg by parents in the wake of the Columbine shootings. There are 38 schools that are a member of the council, but they also promote character in the Business Community, Government entities, and Faith-based groups. They offer 3 scholarships of $1000 to high school students that exemplify core values. They also offer grants of materials and $250 to each of the Hamburgs schools and 1 of the Faith-based organizations. More information can be found at www.charactercouncilwny.org.
